CFC Anniversary Celebration Kickoff Event -
Monday March 13th, 2017 to Monday March 13th, 2017
Please join the United States Court of Federal Claims and the United States Court of Federal Claims Bar Association for a bench and bar educational event to kick off the court’s 2017 anniversary celebrations. Judge Eric Bruggink will moderate a discussion featuring Judge John Wiese as well as long-time practitioner and former chair of the Advisory Council Clarence T. Kipps, George Washington University Law School Professor Emeritus Ralph C. Nash, Jr., the Federal Circuit Bar Association's James E. Brookshire, and former Federal Circuit Advisory Council member Robert K. Huffman. Judge Bruggink will lead the panel in a discussion of the history of the court, focusing on the period preceding passage of the Federal Courts Improvement Act of 1982 and the early forces that have shaped the court as it exists today.
The program will take place on Monday, March 13, 2017, at 4:00 p.m. in National Courts Building Courtroom 203. The program will be followed with a reception in the Dolley Madison House. The program is dedicated to the memory of Judge James Merow (March 16, 1932–December 23, 2016), who would have played a tremendous role in the court's 2017 anniversary celebrations.
For a continuation of the discussion to be started on March 13, please plan to join the bench and bar at the court's 2017 Anniversary Judicial Conference, scheduled for May 4-5, 2017, at the Turf Valley Resort in Ellicott City, MD.
