President's Message

James Boland
James Boland

I am honored to serve as the 33rd President of the Court of Federal Claims Bar Association and looking forward to an exciting year. The Bar Association has a long history of service to the Court and public, from our annual Judicial Conference in the fall and Law Day luncheon in the spring, to an active Young Lawyers Division, educational programs including our “Brown Bag” events, periodic newsletter, and law student scholarships. The Bar Association provides an excellent opportunity for private and government practitioners across the Court’s many jurisdictional areas not only to receive legal education and knowledge about the Court, but to socialize and network with both the bar and bench in a collegial environment.

As we begin 2020, we seek to continue our tradition of preserving and promulgating the heritage and tradition of the Court of Federal Claims. The Bar Association is planning to increase our programming and opportunity for member participation, including the expansion of our traditional Brown Bag educational series with more events on a predictable schedule with CLE credit. In addition, we are planning additional social events with members of the bar and Court family.

We are mindful that the Bar Association thrives the most when Court of Federal Claims practitioners participate actively. If you have had the opportunity to practice before the Court, we encourage you to join the Bar Association and find a way to participate. Please do not hesitate to contact me or any other member of the Board if you have any questions or would like to become more involved, as there are many opportunities to volunteer opportunities, including organizing an educational event.
